The Albanian capital, Tirana, recently hosted the nanoBalkan International Conference for the fourth time.
This dynamic event was organised by the Phantoms Foundation and co-chaired by SUSNANO partner ICN2’s Professor Arben Merkoçi, with support from the SUSNANO Project, the University of Tirana, NanoAlb, and the Academy of Sciences of Albania.
SUSNANO coordinator Professor Majlinda Vasjari, along with her University of Tirana colleagues Professor Besnik Baraj and Professor Kledi Xhaxhiu, coordinated the local organising committee.
Held from 28 October to 1 November, this year’s edition featured over 200 inspiring talks covering nanotechnology and materials science, as well as collaborative workshops. These workshops included participants from Albania, Spain, and Japan focusing on nanotechnology, and from Albania, Italy, and Spain focusing on nanomedicine.
The conference showcased the following workshops and events:
Albania-Japan-Spain Workshop on Nanotechnology – Collaborative research on cutting-edge nanotech.
Albania-Italy-Spain Workshop on Nanomedicine – Innovations in medical applications of nanotechnology.
School on Nanobiosensors – Focused on the latest in biosensor development.
NANOKOS Workshop on Environment & Nanomedicine – Discussions on sustainability and medical advancements.
Women in Nanotechnology Workshop – Empowering women in STEM fields.
ERC Workshop – Insights into research funding and opportunities.
Entreprelearners Seminar – A seminar bridging science and entrepreneurship.
In addition, the conference included numerous talks and presentations from all SUSNANO research partners: the University of Tirana, ICN2, and Palacký University.
The event was a resounding success, serving as an enriching meeting point for nanoscience and biosensor experts, fostering new collaborations, and laying the groundwork for future projects.
